Candid interview with the Sunday Times, Minnie Driver, known for her roles in “Good Will Hunting” and “Return to Me,” shared insights into her romantic journey and the lessons learned along the way. The actress, who has been linked with Hollywood figures like Harrison Ford and Matt Damon, revealed that looking back, she’s grateful for certain decisions.

Driver spoke openly about her past desire for marriage, shaped by her father’s infidelity, which led her to seek stability in relationships. Despite being engaged to fellow actor Josh Brolin in 2001, she now believes it would have been a monumental error.

“The one time I was engaged [to Josh Brolin], it would have been, I think, the biggest mistake of my life,” Driver admitted, reflecting on her relationship choices.

Brolin, now happily married to Kathryn Boyd, has had previous marriages to actors Alice Adair and Diane Lane.

Since then, Driver has found contentment with writer and director Addison O’Dea, with whom she’s been in a loving relationship for five years. Despite their decision not to marry, Driver described O’Dea as everything she had envisioned in a partner.

“I’m with someone who doesn’t want to get married, but who is the most devoted, loving, extraordinary,” she shared.

During a recent appearance on the “Today” show, Driver humorously advised her younger self against dating actors, advocating instead for finding stability outside of the entertainment industry.

“Don’t date actors,” she laughed, adding, “Find a nice plumber. Find an electrician. Find someone who just wants to stay home and support you.”

Driver’s journey through love and self-discovery serves as a reminder of the complexities of relationships and the importance of finding genuine connection over societal expectations.
