Georgia, Bobby’s mother, initially took her son to the hospital, believing he had a simple leg ailment. However, what the doctors discovered left her stunned.
Georgia shared with The Mirror her concerns when she noticed Bobby dragging himself across the floor and struggling with a limp. Initially, doctors at the hospital suspected a fracture and applied a cast to Bobby’s leg. But the pain persisted, prompting Georgia to return to the hospital, insisting on further tests.
The situation took a frightening turn when Bobby and his mother were referred to the Children’s Hospital. There, doctors made a shocking discovery – a tumor on Bobby’s pelvis had grown into his spinal cord, causing nerve damage, as reported by The Mirror.
Bobby’s journey took a hopeful turn when he embarked on a course of chemotherapy, enabling him to regain the ability to stand and walk on his own. However, tragedy struck just 11 months after the initial diagnosis when Bobby’s limp returned, and a scan confirmed the tumor’s ominous resurgence.
Despite undergoing another round of chemotherapy, Bobby’s battle took a devastating toll, leaving him in excruciating pain. Sadly, Bobby passed away, leaving his mother heartbroken. She reflected on the harrowing experience, saying, “It was absolutely awful. I knew when I was in that hospital room, I had to have positive vibes around me and be positive for Bobby. But there was a time I had to go to the bathroom and ask a nurse to stand with him because I knew if he had seen me upset and crying like that, he would have known there was something wrong. I tried to be strong for him.”
Bobby’s cancer was identified as rhabdomyosarcoma, a type of sarcoma that affects the muscles attached to the bone. It was later revealed that Bobby had a rare genetic condition that increased his susceptibility to tumors. Georgia, in her grief, is determined to prevent other parents from enduring the same heartbreak. She has pledged to participate in a 10k charity run later this year to support the oncology ward at the Children’s Hospital, which provided care for Bobby during his battle.
