Footage of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reacting to President Donald Trump’s address to Congress on Tuesday has taken over social media, drawing millions of views. During the speech, Pelosi appeared visibly distressed and clutched her walking stick as Trump spoke about banning transgender participation in women’s sports.
The viral moment occurred when Trump highlighted his executive order titled ‘Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,’ signed on February 5. The order bans transgender athletes from competing in women’s and girls’ sports at educational institutions and grassroots levels. As cameras captured Pelosi’s reaction, she slowly moved her head from side to side, looking crestfallen.
A 14-second clip of the moment was reshared on X (formerly Twitter) by Savanah Hernandez, a Turning Point USA contributor. The post gained massive traction, amassing over 2.2 million views and 29,000 likes. “Just so we’re all aware, this was Nancy Pelosi’s reaction as Trump was discussing men not being allowed to play in women’s sports,” Hernandez wrote.
A shorter, five-second clip was also posted by the pro-Trump X account MAGA Barbie, which has 58,000 followers. The video received over 167,000 views, with a caption that read, “Nancy Pelosi is so mad that men can’t beat the [expletive] out of women in sports.”
Conservative activist Heather Champion also joined the discussion, sharing a clip of Pelosi fidgeting with her walking stick. She wrote, “Nancy Pelosi, who once was so hysterical as Speaker of the House that she ripped up President Trump’s State of the Union speech, is sitting with a cane talking to herself tonight.”
Pelosi, now 84, served as House Speaker from January 2019 to January 2023, during Trump’s first term. She gained national attention when she dramatically tore up Trump’s 2020 State of the Union address on live television. In April 2023, she strongly opposed a Republican-backed House bill aimed at banning transgender athletes from female sports teams, stating, “Trans kids are all God’s children, belong in sports, in schools, in books, in families and on teams.”
Following Trump’s speech, Pelosi responded on X, calling it a “manifesto of mistruths.” She criticized the president for failing to keep his promises on inflation and healthcare costs, adding, “Now his budget plan gives tax breaks to billionaires while ripping away health care from millions of Americans. Republicans voted for it with glee.”
Conservative media outlet Townhall.com also joined in, posting a seven-second clip featuring Pelosi alongside Riley Gaines, a former college athlete turned activist against transgender participation in women’s sports. Gaines reshared the clip, adding, “As a dental student in my previous life, Nancy Pelosi should ditch the dentures and get implants lol.”
With Republicans controlling both chambers of Congress and the White House, Trump is set to reshape American policies. Meanwhile, Pelosi, who secured reelection in 2024, has yet to announce whether she will run for office again in 2026.
