Nick Cannon recently opened up about the possibility of rekindling his relationship with ex-wife Mariah Carey, revealing that he’d “absolutely” be willing to get back together with the iconic singer. However, Cannon acknowledged that this might remain a distant dream.

In a joint interview with his “We Playin’ Spades” co-host Courtney Bee on “E! News,” Cannon candidly shared his feelings about Carey, with whom he shares 13-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe. When asked if he would consider reconciling with Carey, the actor and comedian replied, “[It would] be stupid if I wouldn’t,” even referencing one of Carey’s hit songs by saying, “We belong together.”

However, Cannon humorously admitted, “She don’t want me,” acknowledging the reality of their situation.

The pair first met at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards, but their romantic involvement wasn’t publicly known until three years later, when Cannon appeared in the music video for Carey’s 2008 single “Bye Bye.” That same year, they secretly married in the Bahamas.

Cannon and Carey were married from 2008 to 2016, but their relationship wasn’t without its challenges. Rumors of marital strife began circulating in 2014, a year after they renewed their vows in a Cinderella-themed ceremony at Disneyland. By December of that year, Cannon confirmed their separation, and their divorce was finalized in November 2016.

Since their split, both have moved on. Cannon, who has since welcomed 10 additional children with five different women, has publicly sworn off marriage, stating in a 2016 interview with DuJour, “If it didn’t work out for you the first time, and you still survived it, you probably shouldn’t do it again.” Carey, on the other hand, recently ended her relationship with Bryan Tanaka in December after seven years together.

Despite his numerous responsibilities as a father, Cannon joked in his recent interview that rearing “a whole baseball team” of kids makes a reconciliation with Carey unlikely. He humorously added, “Like, ‘No, you can’t come back home,’” but noted that Carey and the other mothers of his children have an “amazing” relationship.

While Carey has not responded to Cannon’s latest comments, she did humorously dismiss the idea of remarrying him when asked by TMZ in 2019, quipping, “What is he, my last hope?”

This latest revelation from Cannon adds another layer to the ongoing public interest in his relationship with Carey, proving that even years after their split, the possibility of a reunion continues to captivate fans.
