Pamela Anderson has recently praised her Naked Gun co-star, Liam Neeson, calling him a “gentleman” for his kindness and support during the filming of the upcoming reboot of the beloved comedy. Both actors have expressed admiration for each other, creating a strong bond on set.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Neeson, 72, shared his heartfelt sentiments about Anderson, stating, “I’m madly in love with her. She’s just terrific to work with.” He emphasized her down-to-earth nature, saying, “No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She’s funny and so easy to work with. She’s going to be terrific in the film.”
A Dynamic Duo on Set
Anderson, 57, plays a “femme fatale” opposite Neeson, who portrays Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the iconic character Frank Drebin originally played by Leslie Nielsen. Despite his comedic role, Neeson expressed uncertainty about his ability to carry the lead. “Whether I can carry it or not, I honestly don’t know,” he admitted. However, Anderson disagreed, sharing that it was challenging to keep a straight face during their scenes together, highlighting Neeson’s humility.
Anderson reciprocated the compliments, describing Neeson as “the perfect gentleman.” She added, “He brings out the best in you… with respect, kindness, and depth of experience. It was an absolute honor to work with him.” Their mutual respect extended beyond their performances; they often engaged in acts of kindness on set.
Acts of Kindness
Anderson recalled a sweet moment when Neeson “sincerely looked after” her by wrapping his coat around her when she felt cold. In return, she made him bread and cookies, leaving them for him in his dressing room, showcasing the camaraderie they developed during filming.
The new Naked Gun film, directed by Akiva Schaffer and also starring Paul Walter Hauser and Danny Huston, has generated excitement among fans of the original series. Neeson expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I was a fan of the original movies—they were a good giggle.” He was approached by producer Seth MacFarlane, his co-star from A Million Ways to Die in the West, who invited him to be a part of the reboot.
Transitioning to Comedy
Known for his roles in action films, particularly the Taken series, Neeson is venturing into comedy with this reboot. He plans to retire from action films in 2025, making this transition even more significant. In his upcoming movie Absolution, he portrays a former boxer diagnosed with CTE, attempting to reconcile with his estranged daughter while navigating a dangerous world.
Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson’s collaboration in The Naked Gun promises to deliver laughs and heartfelt moments, with both stars bringing their unique talents and genuine appreciation for one another to the screen. Their connection off-screen is sure to enhance the comedic experience for audiences everywhere.
