Paul McCartney, the legendary Beatles member, delighted fans with an unexpected performance that left them “stunned in awe” at the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, New York, on August 20. The 82-year-old rock icon joined a star-studded lineup for an impromptu rendition of The Beatles’ classic hit, “I Saw Her Standing There.”

The surprise came after scheduled performances by notable musicians including Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, record producer Andrew Watt, and legendary guitarist G.E. Smith. McCartney, dressed casually in jeans and a sweatshirt, took to the stage and performed the iconic 1963 song, which he co-wrote with John Lennon.

Videos of the event, shared by Billboard and Andrew Watt, show McCartney energetically singing into the microphone, dancing, and sharing a moment of camaraderie with Watt under a disco ball. The crowd and fellow band members erupted with excitement as McCartney delivered a powerful and lively performance.

Andrew Watt posted about the event on Instagram, describing it as a “dream-like sequence” and highlighting the impact of McCartney’s surprise appearance. Musicians like Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers expressed their amazement, with Flea commenting, “That’s f—— rad.”

Photographer Ryan Sherman, who captured the unforgettable moment, described the audience’s reaction as one of sheer astonishment. McCartney’s performance concluded with him dramatically dropping the mic, a gesture reminiscent of a rap battle, before exiting the stage. Sherman remarked that the event was “one of the coolest things we’ve all ever seen.”
