Philadelphia Eagles have made their stance clear—team sources reveal they would be “honored” to accept an invitation to visit the White House following their triumphant Super Bowl win, according to recent reports.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport took to X to break the news, stating, “The #Eagles would be honored to visit The White House. It’s one of the aspects of winning they are excited about and look forward to receiving the invitation.”
This revelation comes amid swirling speculation that the Eagles might snub the traditional visit, especially after their controversial decision to decline an invitation back in 2018. However, the White House has yet to extend the official invite, with a spokesperson confirming that no formal offer has been made—despite rampant rumors suggesting otherwise.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter also confirmed that sources close to the team say the Eagles “are planning on visiting the White House this off-season and look forward to receiving its invitation.”
The buzz around the Eagles’ potential visit escalated after a report from the US Sun claimed that internal discussions about rejecting the invitation had taken place, citing former President Trump’s past criticism of NFL players who knelt during the national anthem. The last time the Eagles won the Super Bowl, tensions between the league and Trump were at an all-time high, with the then-president famously stating that team owners should fire players who refused to stand for the national anthem.
Fast forward seven years, and while only four players from that 2018 championship roster remain—Jake Elliott, Rick Lovato, Brandon Graham, and Lane Johnson—the debate over White House visits in the sports world remains as heated as ever.
Despite the rumors, Politico reports that a White House official has categorically denied claims that the Eagles have refused an invitation, reinforcing that any speculation about a boycott is entirely false.
