PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a serious incident involving the abduction and sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl on the evening of Friday, May 31.
Authorities are currently searching for both the suspect and a stolen vehicle linked to the crime.
At around 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an abduction in progress near Germantown and Erie Avenues. According to initial information, a white 2010 Ford Taurus was left unattended with the engine running and keys inside. A 12-year-old girl was asleep in the backseat when an unknown individual entered the vehicle and drove away with her inside.
Less than 25 minutes later, at approximately 9:53 p.m., officers found a juvenile matching the description of the missing girl near Broad Street and Roosevelt Boulevard.
It was confirmed that the victim had been sexually assaulted. She was immediately taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Police are seeking an unidentified Black male suspect, described as thin and wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident. The stolen vehicle remains missing.
The Special Victims Unit is leading the investigation, with support from additional law enforcement resources. Authorities are working diligently to identify and apprehend the suspect.
