The college football world is buzzing with the debate over who should lead the Texas Longhorns as their starting quarterback: Quinn Ewers or Arch Manning. This conversation extends beyond Texas, captivating fans and analysts alike. Recently, Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders weighed in on this hot topic, showcasing his support for the veteran QB, Quinn Ewers.

Shedeur Sanders’ Take on the QB Battle

On his podcast, 2Legendary, Sanders expressed his thoughts on the situation, stating, “I think for Quinn, the only difference was that they were trying to change it up a little bit to spark something, but I feel like it was going to go back to Quinn anyway.” This statement highlights the notion that Ewers, despite facing challenges, remains the preferred choice for Texas.

Challenges Faced by Ewers

Shedeur Sanders pointed out that Ewers is better equipped to handle tough games where the offense struggles to find momentum. This was evident during Texas’s first loss of the season against Georgia, where the offensive line faltered, allowing Ewers to be sacked seven times and resulting in ten tackles for loss. These issues put immense pressure on Ewers, which Sanders believes he can manage more effectively than Manning.

“I think it’s tough putting Arch in this situation,” Sanders remarked, acknowledging the difficulties a freshman like Manning would face, especially during challenging times. He added, “It’s really hard to ask a freshman player to do that.”

Arch Manning’s Potential

Despite the challenges, Sanders remains optimistic about Arch Manning’s future. “I mean, Arch is still young,” he said. “He has a lot of time to grow and succeed.” This sentiment reflects the belief that Manning’s time will come, but for now, the pressure lies heavily on Ewers.

Draft Prospects for Ewers

As the season progresses, the stakes are high for Quinn Ewers, particularly concerning his future in professional football. In ESPN’s 2025 Mock NFL Draft by Jordan Reid, Ewers is not mentioned among the top prospects. Initially viewed as a potential first-round pick, his performance has waned due to missed games and the recent loss to Georgia, which exposed his vulnerabilities.

While there are still chances for Ewers to contend for the Heisman Trophy, he must deliver strong performances moving forward to secure his position among the top draft picks.
