Punk-rock enthusiast, Bird Piché, faced a devastating spinal cord injury, leaving her partially paralyzed after an incident at a concert in New York. The unfortunate event occurred during a performance by Australian band Trophy Eyes at the Mohawk Place venue in Buffalo on April 30.
Reports indicate that Bird Piché endured a severe spinal cord injury when the lead singer of Trophy Eyes, John Floreani, leaped into the crowd during the show. Footage circulating on social media captured the moment when Floreani seemingly landed on top of Piché amidst the energetic atmosphere of the concert.
Following the incident, Piché underwent extensive surgery to address her injuries. While her neck was broken, there have been signs of hope as she has started to regain feeling in her fingers, according to a family friend who was present at the concert.
Trophy Eyes expressed profound sadness over the incident, stating that it had deeply affected them. They promptly halted the show to accompany Piché to the hospital, and have since been in close contact with her and her family. The band has also made a $5,000 donation to a GoFundMe page set up for Piché, which has garnered significant support from well-wishers, raising over $50,000 to assist with her medical expenses and rehabilitation needs.
In response to inquiries about the incident, Mohawk Place stated that crowd-surfing is prohibited at the venue, with signs posted throughout to reinforce this policy. The Independent reached out to both Mohawk Place and Trophy Eyes for further comments.
As Piché continues her recovery journey, the music community rallies behind her, offering support and solidarity during this challenging time. Thoughts and well-wishes pour in for her continued progress and eventual return to health and happiness.
Please note that the GoFundMe page will provide updates on Piché’s condition and any further assistance needed to facilitate her recovery.
