Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has set off a flurry of rumors, suggesting that Michelle Obama could emerge as the Democratic Party’s nominee in the upcoming presidential race. The speculation gained traction following a report by Special Counsel Robert Hur, which raised questions about President Joe Biden’s handling of classified information.
Hur’s investigation, initiated in January 2023, delved into Biden’s mishandling of classified documents found in his Delaware garage. While the documents were acquired during Biden’s time as vice president and senator, Hur chose not to pursue charges, expressing concerns that a jury might perceive Biden as a “sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.”
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Ramaswamy emphasized the significance of Hur’s report, suggesting it could lead Democrats to consider Michelle Obama as a potential replacement for Biden. Ramaswamy pointed out what he called the “Kamala Harris problem,” expressing doubts about the vice president’s ability to effectively assume the presidential role if Biden were sidelined.
Ramaswamy cited Harris’s lackluster performance in previous political endeavors, noting her failure to gain traction even within her own party during the Iowa caucus. This perceived vulnerability, according to Ramaswamy, could create an opening for Michelle Obama’s candidacy, positioning her as a formidable alternative to Biden.
However, former Obama White House advisor David Axelrod dismissed the speculation in a recent CNN interview. Axelrod highlighted Michelle Obama’s aversion to politics, recalling her limited involvement in her husband’s political campaigns and emphasizing her reluctance to engage in the political arena.
Meanwhile, cybersecurity policy analyst Charlie Kraiger, reportedly disclosed to James O’Keefe of the news website OMG that Biden and Harris are set to retain their positions as the Democratic nominees in the 2024 election. This contradicts the swirling speculation surrounding Michelle Obama’s potential candidacy.
Biden himself had expressed admiration for Michelle Obama’s capabilities during his 2020 campaign, lauding her intelligence and leadership qualities. However, he conceded that Michelle Obama would likely decline an offer to serve as vice president, citing her reluctance to reenter the political arena.
As rumors continue to circulate and pundits weigh in, the Democratic party faces a crucial juncture. With Biden’s leadership under scrutiny and questions surrounding Harris’s viability, the prospect of Michelle Obama stepping into the political spotlight looms large. Axelrod’s dismissal and Kraiger’s assertions, however, suggest that, for now, Biden and Harris remain the party’s chosen nominees, leaving the fate of the 2024 election uncertain.
