Once upon a time, a Deutsche Bank guy thought Ivanka might run her dad’s business, but she kinda disappeared from the public eye after her dad lost the 2020 election. She and her husband, Jared Kushner, moved to Miami and left politics behind.
Now, they want to know about Ivanka’s time working for her dad’s company. They think her apartment in New York was priced way too high, like two and a half times what it should be.
The New York attorney general thinks Ivanka’s family business paid for her stuff, like staff, credit cards, taxes, and her apartment. They sent her some emails asking questions about it.
Ivanka’s lawyer said those payments don’t matter much. She was in trouble with the New York attorney general before because they thought her family inflated and deflated the value of their business to get better tax breaks and insurance.
She tried to avoid talking about it, saying she doesn’t live in New York anymore, but the judge said she still has to testify.
So, on Wednesday, Ivanka will have to talk about some real estate deals and loans. Her lawyer said she lives in Florida now, not New York, but the judge doesn’t care.
The attorney general’s office says she knew about these deals and the documents that caused the problem.
