Fiery campaign rally, Vice President Kamala Harris took a bold stance against former President Donald Trump, challenging him to meet her on the debate stage despite his apparent reluctance. Harris, who is now the presumptive Democratic nominee following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race, addressed a crowd of 10,000 supporters in Atlanta on Tuesday, emphasizing the shifting momentum in her campaign.
Harris’s comments came as Trump expressed doubts about participating in the upcoming debate scheduled for September 10 on ABC News. Although Trump indicated he might debate Harris eventually, he questioned the potential benefits of such an appearance, hinting that his presence might not sway the outcome.
During her Atlanta rally, Harris did not hold back her criticism of Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance. She labeled them as “just plain weird” and mocked their outspoken criticisms of her. “Here’s the funny thing about that,” Harris said. “So he won’t debate, but he and his running mate sure seem to have a lot to say about me.”
The Vice President’s challenge to Trump was clear: “Well, Donald, I do hope you’ll reconsider to meet me on the debate stage,” she declared. “Because as the saying goes, if you’ve got something to say, say it to my face.”
Harris’s campaign has gained significant traction in recent weeks. In just 10 days, she has raised over $200 million and enlisted more than 170,000 volunteers. Recent polls show her gaining ground in key swing states, signaling a tightening race as the election approaches.
With Harris’s assertive stance and growing campaign momentum, the upcoming debate promises to be a pivotal moment in the 2024 presidential race.
