Recent development reported by The Independent on May 31, 2024, Shiloh, the daughter of the renowned Hollywood duo Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has taken a significant step by officially requesting to remove “Pitt” from her surname, marking a poignant development amidst her parents’ widely publicized separation.

Shiloh, an 18-year-old dancer, filed the formal request on May 27, seeking to be legally recognized as Shiloh Jolie, omitting her father’s surname.

This decision follows closely after reports surfaced indicating that Shiloh’s younger sister, 15-year-old Vivienne, had also seemingly dropped “Pitt” from her surname. Vivienne, who is actively involved in the production of the new Broadway musical “The Outsiders,” is credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill.

While various sources suggest that Pitt’s other children with Jolie – Zahara, Maddox, Pax, and Knox – have also adopted Jolie’s surname, Shiloh is reportedly the first to formalize the change legally.

Despite attempts to reach out to Pitt’s representatives for comment by The Independent, there has been no response as of now.

The news of Shiloh’s decision to alter her surname adds another layer to the ongoing narrative surrounding Pitt’s relationship with his children in the aftermath of his highly publicized divorce from Jolie in 2016.

Speculations about strained relations between Pitt and his children have persisted over the years, with incidents surfacing that have further fueled speculation about the family dynamic.

One notable incident took place during a private flight from France to Los Angeles in September 2016, which reportedly led to Jolie filing for divorce. Court filings obtained by The New York Times alleged that Pitt engaged in physical altercations, including an instance where he allegedly “choked one of the children and struck another in the face.”

Despite Pitt’s vehement denials, these allegations have cast a shadow over the former couple’s relationship and raised questions about their co-parenting arrangements.

Public scrutiny resurfaced last November when a scathing Father’s Day post attributed to their son Pax circulated online, accusing Pitt of being a “terrible and despicable person.”

The legal battle between Pitt and Jolie has extended beyond their personal lives, with disputes over assets such as the French winery, Château Miraval, adding complexity to their separation.

Most recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled that Jolie must submit eight years’ worth of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
