Haley, the Republican contender who gained prominence as the governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017, is facing a notable challenge in her home state’s primary, with key Republican figures publicly endorsing her rival, former President Trump.
Among the recent endorsements is Nancy Mace, a rising star in the party and a U.S. representative. Mace, who acknowledged not aligning perfectly with any candidate, declared her support for Trump on Monday, emphasizing the need to unite behind the nominee. This move adds to Trump’s growing support in South Carolina, where five out of six Republican representatives in the U.S. Congress have now backed him.
Even in New Hampshire on Tuesday, Republican Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, who withdrew from the presidential race in the previous year, actively campaigned for Trump. Scott, urging Haley to follow suit, stated, “Nikki should join the team,” according to Politico.
The dynamics of the race continue to evolve as prominent figures within the Republican party align themselves with Trump, setting the stage for a closely watched primary in South Carolina.
