President Joe Biden is in hot water for sharing a story that’s been proven false not once, but twice in one day during a recent Bidenomics event in Delaware. The tale revolves around a train conductor named Angelo Negri who, as Biden claims, playfully called him Joey, baby! and praised his extensive train travel.
However, this story has been fact-checked and discredited by CNN back in 2021. The network highlighted several inconsistencies, such as Angelo Negri passing away before Biden reached the million-miles-flown mark as vice president and Biden’s mother’s passing, which was years before the alleged conversation with Negri.
Despite these discrepancies and fact-checks, President Biden has repeated this story around 12 times, according to the New York Post. He emphasized his long history of using Amtrak and the miles he’s covered on train journeys, especially those to visit his mother.

This controversy has re-emerged at a time when there are increasing concerns about President Biden’s age. A recent Associated Press/NORC poll shows that a significant majority of Americans, 77%, believe the 80-year-old president may not be effectively governing due to his age. Of those who have doubts about his ability to lead, 85% don’t want him to run for re-election in 2024.
The repetition of this debunked story is casting a shadow on the transparency and credibility of the Biden administration. It’s also drawing attention to worries about President Biden’s age and cognitive abilities, especially with his intention to seek re-election in 2024.
