A recent survey conducted by Daily Mail Online on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, highlights a significant proportion of American voters who harbor doubts about the legitimacy of President Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election. The skepticism, rooted in concerns about voting machinery and media bias, casts a shadow over the forthcoming rematch between Biden and his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump.

According to the DailyMail.com/TIPP Poll, which polled nearly 1,300 adults, 63 percent of respondents believe that Biden won the election fairly, while a notable 31 percent expressed skepticism, contending that the outcome lacked legitimacy. Seven percent of participants remained undecided.

As the nation approaches another presidential election, these findings prompt concerns about perceptions of electoral integrity. The poll results suggest a growing number of voters questioning Biden’s victory, a trend that could impact the upcoming contest between him and Trump.

While Trump has persistently claimed victory in the 2020 election, his assertions have been refuted by numerous election audits and over 60 lawsuits failing to substantiate allegations of widespread voter fraud. Nonetheless, he remains a leading figure in the Republican Party’s endeavor to reclaim the White House, despite facing four criminal indictments comprising a total of 91 charges, including cases related to his post-election efforts to retain power after losing to Biden.

Trump’s recent remarks suggest apprehensions about potential electoral fraud in the forthcoming November election, echoing allegations of voting irregularities that culminated in the violent assault on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The DailyMail.com/TIPP Poll and other surveys indicate a mounting skepticism among voters regarding the legitimacy of Biden’s 2020 win. The percentage of Republicans contesting the fairness of Biden’s victory has risen to 59 percent. Additionally, demographic groups expressing doubts include men, married women, whites, individuals aged 65 and above, people with lower incomes, those with only a high school education, and residents of the southern region of the country.

Surveyors collecting feedback from skeptics of Biden’s win noted concerns about corruption, foul play, and alleged massive voter fraud involving tactics such as unverified mail-in ballots and tampered voting machines. Some respondents also accused major tech companies like Google and Facebook of manipulating content to influence public perceptions of the candidates.

While voting integrity has not yet emerged as a central issue in the current race, attention remains focused on Trump’s legal battles and Biden’s vulnerabilities, including worries over inflation, industrial-policy bills, and international conflicts. Additionally, scrutiny has been directed at the age and occasional verbal slips of both Biden, 81, and Trump, 77, prompting questions about their fitness for another term in office.
