Trump and his allies accused Joe Biden of corruption and cover-up, while mainstream media predominantly dismissed the narrative as unverified, unsubstantiated, or linked to a purported Russian disinformation endeavor.
Social media giants such as Twitter and Facebook also imposed censorship on the New York Post’s articles, curtailing their dissemination and visibility. Despite arguments from journalists and pundits asserting the laptop’s irrelevance, immateriality, or role as a distraction from pertinent national issues like the COVID-19 pandemic and the economy, the story persisted. Subsequent evidence corroborated its authenticity and significance.
In December 2020, Hunter Biden acknowledged being under federal investigation for his “tax affairs,” involving foreign business transactions.
