According to a Conservative Brief report on November 5, 2023, the investigation mainly focused on how the FBI handled the inquiry into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server during her time as Secretary of State. It’s important to note that this report didn’t touch on any allegations of wrongdoing related to the Russia investigation.

Trump stated that the report completely clears his name, but Justice officials and FBI Director Christopher Wray disagreed with this assertion. They made it clear that the report didn’t address the Russia investigation, and it didn’t serve as a full exoneration for Trump. The report did, however, point out that former FBI Director James Comey acted inappropriately in handling the Clinton email case.

The report primarily looked into how the FBI handled the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server during her time as Secretary of State. It didn’t get into allegations of collusion or obstruction of justice in the Russia investigation.

While Trump claimed the report completely cleared him, Justice officials disputed this, emphasizing that the report didn’t cover the special counsel investigation. FBI Director Christopher Wray also clarified that the report didn’t provide a complete exoneration for Trump.

However, the report did find that former FBI Director James Comey acted inappropriately in his management of the Clinton email investigation. It also criticized the FBI’s handling of the inquiry as unusual and inappropriate.

The investigation into the FBI’s handling of the Clinton email inquiry began in 2017, and the report was made public in 2018, sparking various reactions. Trump saw it as clearing his name, but others criticized it for not addressing the Russia investigation.
