TikTok video, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles shared an amusing yet unsettling experience with Botox that led her to vow never to undergo the procedure again. The 27-year-old gymnastics star posted a “get ready with me” video, offering fans a glimpse into her preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, it was her Botox confession that captured the most attention.
Biles recounted how she decided to try “baby Botox” for her 27th birthday, opting for a lighter version of the treatment aimed at smoothing out wrinkles. “I got Botox, like baby Botox, just… in my T-zone,” Biles said. Despite her intentions, the experience left her with an unusual side effect: one of her eyebrows began to rise involuntarily.
“I did not like it, so I haven’t got it again,” Biles admitted, laughing about the situation. She explained that the rogue eyebrow would frequently elevate on its own, a phenomenon her teammates noticed during practice. “They’d be like, ‘Simone, your eyebrow is doing it again!’ and I’m like, ‘I feel it!’ and I couldn’t get it back down,” Biles recalled. Though the eyebrow would eventually return to its normal position after about 20 seconds, the experience was enough to make her steer clear of Botox in the future.
Dr. Michelle Yagoda, a New York-based facial plastic surgeon, commented on the issue, noting that an eyebrow moving involuntarily can be a common reaction to Botox. This typically occurs due to “under-correction,” where insufficient Botox in one area causes uneven movement. “You’ll see people with the telltale signs of Botox where the center part of their forehead is smooth, but over the eyebrows, there’s movement going up and down,” Yagoda explained. To address this problem, she suggested that a “teeny tiny bit” more Botox might be necessary.
For now, Simone Biles is sticking to her natural facial expressions and enjoying complete control over her movements. “Now I can do all the facials, so not doing that again!” she concluded.
This lighthearted admission from one of the world’s top athletes serves as a reminder of the sometimes unpredictable side effects of cosmetic procedures, even for those who are used to being in the spotlight.
