Former Spandau Ballet singer Ross Davidson has admitted in court that he filmed himself fondling women to “spice things up.” The 36-year-old singer, known by his stage name Ross Wild, faces charges of sexual offenses and rape. Despite these admissions, Davidson denies all charges against him.
Ross Davidson’s Court Testimony
Davidson, who starred in the West End musical “We Will Rock You,” testified at Wood Green Crown Court that he forced himself on women who rejected him and sought sex up to six times per night. Jurors heard how Davidson, described as “a bit of a sex symbol,” allegedly filmed himself groping women while they slept and engaged in role-playing rape scenarios. The offenses reportedly occurred over a decade, from 2013 to 2023, involving five women, three of whom he allegedly raped.
Defense and Allegations
During police interviews, Davidson claimed that all activities were consensual. In court, he wore a grey jacket with black trousers and maintained his innocence. Charlotte Newell, defending, questioned Davidson about claims he had filmed himself squeezing an alleged victim’s breasts while she slept. Davidson denied forcing the woman to take drugs or consume alcohol against her will.
When asked if he had forced alcohol on the alleged victim to abuse her, Davidson replied, “Absolutely not, no.” He described his sexual behavior as “moderate to experimental,” asserting that the second complainant was very open-minded and initiated some of their activities. He emphasized that he never forced his will on anyone.
Filming Incidents and Further Claims
Davidson admitted that he had a fantasy about having sex with someone while they were asleep but found the idea “a bit weird” in practice. He confessed that a woman asked him to delete a video of him touching her breasts while she slept, but he did not comply.

Regarding a third alleged victim, Davidson is accused of assaulting her during the Cannes Film Festival. He explained that he was at Cannes for a film role and attended a yacht party with the woman. He denied spiking her drink, calling the accusation “abhorrent.” He claimed that the woman initiated physical contact and that he filmed her breasts with her consent, promising to delete the footage but failing to do so.
Charges and Jury Directions
Davidson, of Finchley, north London, faces three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, one count of voyeurism, and one count of controlling behavior. The jury was directed to clear him of one charge of intimidation at the close of the prosecution’s case.
Davidson replaced Tony Hadley as Spandau Ballet’s lead singer in 2018 after playing Elvis Presley in the West End musical “Million Dollar Quartet.” Despite his career accomplishments, the court case has brought severe allegations to light, overshadowing his professional achievements.
