An interview featuring T.I. and Young Dro took an unexpected turn when jokes about drug addiction made the atmosphere tense. The incident occurred during a segment on The Breakfast Club on October 14, where Young Dro opened up about his past struggles with addiction.
While discussing his experiences, Young Dro mentioned serious topics, including an overdose and the impact of drug use on his family. “All these things happened,” he reflected. “The overdose. My daughter was on drugs. And career-wise, I wasn’t where I wanted to be.” His candidness was met with laughter from a member of their entourage, which created an awkward moment.
Tensions escalated when comedian K Dubb laughed while Young Dro spoke about his battles with addiction. This laughter was not taken lightly, and Young Dro expressed his frustration directly. “Aye, you finna get slapped,” he warned K Dubb. “I mean, we cool, but I’ll slap the s### outcha ‘bout that … I’m just telling you.”
K Dubb responded defiantly, “You ain’t gon’ slap me now,” prompting Young Dro to ask, “Whatchu wanna do?”
Recognizing the situation was getting out of hand, T.I. quickly intervened to calm both parties. “Hey, listen,” he said firmly, pointing at K Dubb. “Both of y’all. All y’all. Everybody came in the m########### with me. Aye, look, everybody came in the m########### with me. Aye, look, remember who you came in with. Remember what we doing here, man. C’mon, man. Aye, get this s### together, bruh.”
T.I.’s intervention effectively halted the escalating argument and allowed Young Dro to continue sharing his journey toward recovery. “All these things happened to where it made me want to actually seek something better,” he explained. “So, when I took myself to rehab out in L.A., did a couple months out there. And it was cool. I got back out and I was still tempted to live that kind of life. But I saw what was in front of me and I was like, ‘This is more valuable than what’s behind me.’”
In addition to this intense discussion, T.I. has upcoming performances, including a scheduled appearance at 96.1 The Beat’s Jingle Ball in Atlanta on December 19, which he claims will be his final live performance.
