During her first Indianapolis stop on the Eras Tour, Taylor Swift showcased her poise and professionalism when faced with an unexpected technical issue. On Friday, Nov. 1, while performing “Lavender Haze” at the Lucas Oil Stadium, Swift’s microphone pack malfunctioned, requiring a quick replacement in the middle of her performance.
In a viral TikTok video capturing the moment, Swift, 34, maintained her composure, calling out, “I need a new pack,” and signaling to her crew mid-song. Dressed in a lavender fur coat over a sequined mini dress, Swift continued performing without missing a beat, even as she reached behind her back to adjust the malfunctioning pack.
Pausing center stage, she addressed the crew with a quick, “I just need a new wireless pack because this one is out of battery, please.” As she continued to sing, a crew member rushed onstage to assist. Swift then slipped off her coat, revealing a sparkling blue bodysuit, and lifted her dress slightly to allow the crew to replace the microphone pack. All the while, Swift tapped along to the beat, keeping fans engaged with her casual dancing.
Once the pack was replaced, she gave a cheerful “Thank you,” jumping up and resuming her performance with the same energy as before.
Swift’s fans quickly took to the TikTok comments to praise her poise under pressure. “Love how she did that! Taylor and her complete team are an oiled machine!” wrote one fan. Another commented, “Handled it like a pro but also so funny. The shirt lift, the little dance, the vocals, the thank you…an unforgettable moment.”
Attendees of the November 1 show included WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark and Chariah Gordon, fiancée of Kansas City Chiefs’ Mecole Hardman Jr., who showed support for Swift at the concert. This Indianapolis concert was the first of three shows for Swift in the city, with her Eras Tour set to conclude on Dec. 8 in Vancouver.
