Horrifying high school attack was narrowly averted in Montgomery County, Texas, after two teenage girls were arrested for allegedly planning to detonate pipe bombs and open fire on students, authorities revealed.
Law enforcement officials say the suspects, aged 15 and 16, attended different schools but conspired to carry out a deadly massacre at Memorial High School. The 16-year-old suspect, who is a student at the targeted school, was found on campus just 30 minutes after the threats surfaced, police reported.
The disturbing plan was uncovered through chillingly detailed messages on social media, which led authorities to take the threat seriously. Investigators say the attack was still in its planning stages when officers stepped in to stop it before it could turn into a nightmare.
The FBI’s Houston office played a crucial role in tracking down the suspects before the plot could be executed. “FBI Houston received information yesterday that two underage teenagers from the Houston area were plotting a mass casualty attack at a local school,” the agency wrote on X. “Our Threat Mitigation Team immediately responded to help [Houston Police] and [the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office] identify and arrest them.”
Authorities have not released the names of the suspects, but the 16-year-old has been charged with making a terroristic threat—a felony offense. Officials also confirmed that one of the suspects was already in custody for unrelated charges, while the other was arrested in Harris County.
As investigations continue, law enforcement is assuring the community that they are taking every precaution to ensure student safety. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has implemented additional security measures and is working closely with school officials to prevent any future threats.
This incident follows a disturbing pattern of violent threats in schools across the country, sparking renewed concerns about student safety and the role of social media in facilitating such dangerous plots.
