A Texas firefighter was stabbed in the thigh during the early hours of Monday morning by an individual suspected of starting multiple fires along Interstate 35 in Austin. The incident occurred as firefighters were working to extinguish the blazes, emphasizing the risks faced by these brave first responders.
According to Austin Fire Department shift commander Eddie Martinez, the firefighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the attack. Martinez explained that the alleged arsonist had wandered onto the interstate, and when firefighters attempted to remove him from the roadway, he became agitated and stabbed one of the firefighters.
The injured firefighter was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment and was later released. The Austin Fire Department confirmed on Twitter that the firefighter is now at home and recovering well.
