A recent report has uncovered a revealing text exchange from Robert F. Kennedy Jr., shedding light on his harsh criticism of former President Donald Trump. The messages, disclosed by The New Yorker and reported by The Washington Times on August 5, 2024, showcase Kennedy’s intense disdain for Trump, who he described as “a terrible human being” and “barely human.”

The texts emerged after Kennedy, an independent presidential candidate for 2024, had attended the Republican National Convention. During this event, Kennedy reportedly discussed potential collaboration with Trump, despite his negative sentiments towards the former president. Kennedy’s campaign manager, Amaryllis Fox Kennedy, indicated that Trump’s team had proposed a deal, suggesting that Kennedy might consider joining a second Trump term in exchange for exiting the race.

Despite these overtures, Kennedy’s private communications painted a starkly negative picture of Trump. “He is probably a sociopath,” Kennedy wrote in one of the texts, addressing an unnamed recipient. This critical view of Trump was contrasted by Kennedy’s comments about President Joe Biden, whom Kennedy also criticized, calling him “more dangerous to the Republic and the planet.”

Kennedy’s remarks offer insight into the broader dynamics of the 2024 presidential race, highlighting his contentious relationship with major party candidates. Despite acknowledging the challenges of his independent bid, Kennedy has expressed admiration for Trump’s unexpected success in 2016, reflecting on his own ambitions with a mix of realism and inspiration.

Amaryllis Fox Kennedy has hinted that, despite the scathing texts, Kennedy’s campaign is exploring potential roles in a second Trump administration. A position in the Department of Health and Human Services, she suggested, would be “incredibly interesting” for the candidate.
