Former President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on President Joe Biden and his administration, branding them “DC thugs” and a “threat to democracy” in response to the indictment of Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar and his wife on bribery charges.
Trump’s fiery comments were shared on his social media platform, Truth Social, where he lambasted Biden and his associates for what he perceives as political persecution. The indictment alleges that Cuellar and his wife accepted bribes totaling approximately $600,000 from an oil company owned by the Azerbaijani government and a Mexican bank.

In his statement, Trump accused Biden of orchestrating the indictment as retribution against Cuellar for his stance on border control, claiming that the administration used federal agencies to target the congressman. He characterized Biden’s administration as “DC thugs” and warned that they would face consequences for their actions.
Cuellar, a Democrat from Texas, vehemently denies the charges against him and his wife, asserting their innocence in a recent statement. The indictment accuses the couple of conspiracy, bribery, wire fraud, money laundering, and operating as agents of a foreign organization.
According to the Justice Department, the bribes were allegedly laundered over a seven-year period through sham consulting contracts and front companies managed by Cuellar’s wife. The indictment alleges that in exchange for the funds, Cuellar pledged to influence US foreign policy to benefit Azerbaijan and a bank based in Mexico City.

The Cuellars purportedly used the illicit funds for various personal expenses, including credit card bills, car payments, and extravagant shopping sprees. Despite the severity of the charges, Cuellar maintains his innocence and vows to fight the allegations.

This indictment marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into corruption and foreign influence in US politics. As the case unfolds, the implications for both Cuellar and the broader political landscape remain uncertain.
