According to a report by Newsweek on May 13, 2024, Trump’s intention was to compare Biden to Carter, whom he often criticizes, rather than confuse Connors with the former president.
Trump’s spokesperson, Steven Cheung, reiterated Trump’s criticism of Biden, labeling him as “Crooked Joe Biden” and stating that Biden is “the worst president in the history of our country, worse than Jimmy Carter by a long shot.”
