Fresh initiative from the Trump camp is causing a stir in Republican circles. Now, if GOP candidates want to leverage the image and name of former President Donald Trump in their fundraising efforts, they’ll need to kick back a share of their proceeds.

A letter, dated April 15 and signed by Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, co-campaign managers of Donald J. Trump For President, sent to top Republican digital vendors, introduces the Trump National Committee JFC Inc. This new committee is asking Republicans to share at least 5 percent of their fundraising with Trump National Committee, starting from April 16.

While the letter lays out these terms, it’s uncertain how many candidates vying for federal, state, or local positions will agree to these conditions.

The Trump National Committee, a joint venture registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on March 20, includes Donald J. Trump For President 2024 Inc. and the Republican National Committee.

In addition to the revenue share request, the letter outlines guidelines for fundraising solicitations. It prohibits vendors from speaking on behalf of President Trump, questioning support for him tied to financial contributions, or creating unauthorized Trump-related memberships or rewards. Vendors are also warned against using matching language to imply larger impacts, adding one-click donation features mentioning Trump, mentioning the Trump family without consent, or impersonating Trump or his campaign.

Furthermore, the Trump National Committee seeks a 1 percent share on upsells, particularly those personally signed by Trump. These upsells, as per the letter, have shown the highest conversion rates and dollars per view.

A list of approved candidates and committees, eligible to use a gold “official team Trump” seal on their campaign materials, is available on the Donald J. Trump For President 2024 website. Currently, 54 committees are officially part of Team Trump.

The campaign emphasizes Trump’s endorsement power as pivotal in American politics, stating that his influence is “election defining” and rallies “America First patriots” behind endorsed candidates.

As the Biden campaign flaunts its substantial fundraising success, with more than $187 million in its main accounts, Trump-related committees have yet to disclose their April fundraising figures, expected by April 20.

Recent filings from Trump-associated committees show Trump Save America Joint Fundraising Committee and Trump 47 Committee Inc. holding $26.4 million collectively, while the Make America Great Again PAC reports approximately $42,500 on hand.

Past scrutiny arose when it was reported that Trump 47 would raise funds for Trump’s legal defense before allocating anything to the RNC. Despite this, recent filings show significant contributions to the RNC and Trump’s central committee, with legal expenses exceeding $10 million in the first two months of the year.

With a recent fundraising event hosted by Trump 47 reaping over $50.5 million, it’s evident that Trump’s fundraising machinery remains robust and consequential in GOP circles.
