Former President Donald Trump has stirred controversy once again with his recent comments concerning the conflict in Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas. Trump’s remarks have drawn criticism from the White House and an Israeli minister, leading to a subsequent reevaluation of his stance.
It was observed that Trump appeared to backtrack on his criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and, instead, expressed his support for the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). However, he did not stop at that point. Trump has now inserted himself into the Israel-Hamas conflict by making bold claims about defeating Hamas, reminiscent of his previous assertions about defeating ISIS during his presidency.
In a recent post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump stated:
Many are using an example of ‘just the way ISIS was defeated in Iraq and Syria, HAMAS will likewise be defeated.’ Please remember that it was the Trump Administration that defeated ISIS, and quickly, after years of futile attempts by previous administrations! Someday we will be given proper credit for all of the many successes we had. In the meantime, we will do it again in 2024! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
This statement suggests that Trump believes he is the key to defeating Hamas, much as he claimed credit for defeating ISIS during his presidency. It also hints at a potential run for the presidency in 2024.
