Mediaite reports that former president Donald Trump strongly condemned the recent decision of U.S. district judge Tanya Chutkan, who imposed a partial gag on him. Jason Miller, a prominent member of the Trump campaign took to X (the rebranded social network platform formerly called Twitter) to denounce the ruling.
Miller also criticized what Miller perceived as partisan involvement in the democratic process. He accused President Joe Biden, whom he described as the frontrunner for the presidency in 2024 and as the most popular leader in America, of trying to silence his political rival. Trump reiterated his commitment to upholding Constitutional rights, protecting his supporters’ rights, and safeguarding the freedom of the United States from what he described as biased law enforcement.
MILLER continued, “ANOTHER PARTISAN knife stuck in the heart of our democracy by crooked Joe Biden, who was granted the right to muddle his political opponent, and most popular leader in America, the leading candidate for presidency in 2024.” “PRESIDENT TRUMP will continue to fight for our Constitution, the American people’s right to support him, and to keep our country free of the chains of weaponized and targeted law enforcement.
Trump, following Miller’s remarks, used his newly-established social media platform Truth Social to condemn the gag and promise to appeal the ruling. The gag order prohibits Trump to launch verbal attacks on Special Counsel Jack Smith’s prosecutors and court personnel as well as potential witnesses, in light of the trial that is pending, in which he faces allegations about his involvement in a plot to overturn results of the 2020 elections. Judge Chutkan acted on concerns raised by Smith’s legal team at a recent hearing. They cited the potential impact that Trump’s inflammatory statements could have on the fairness and impartiality of the case.
Trump has been subjected before to similar restrictions in his Manhattan civil business fraud case. These ongoing legal battles have highlighted the contentious atmosphere that surrounds Trump’s public statements and legal affairs.
