Former President Donald Trump launched a fierce attack on President Joe Biden during a rally in Arizona, declaring that Biden is “not allowed” to suggest that he should be locked up. This comment follows Biden’s earlier remark in New Hampshire where he stated that America needs to “lock [Trump] up,” clarifying that he meant this in a political context.
While speaking in New Hampshire, Biden expressed support for Vice President Kamala Harris as his potential successor, while also criticizing Trump’s promise to reduce the size of the federal government if he returns to office. Biden’s remarks were met with applause as he joked, “I mean, so I know this sounds bizarre. I know if I said this five years ago, you’d lock me up. We gotta lock him up.” He quickly added, “Politically lock him up. Lock him out. That’s what we have to do.”
The comment did not go unnoticed. CNN’s Jake Tapper anticipated that Trump’s campaign would seize the opportunity to capitalize on Biden’s gaffe.
