President Donald Trump lashed out at four Republican senators, branding them as “unbelievably disloyal” for siding with Democrats to block his latest tariff push against Canada.

Trump took to Truth Social to unleash his fury, calling out Senators Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul of Kentucky, Susan Collins of Maine, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. He accused them of “playing with the lives of the American people” and handing a victory to the “Radical Left Democrats and Drug Cartels.”

At the center of Trump’s outrage is a resolution led by Democratic Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia, aimed at terminating Trump’s national emergency declaration, which justified the tariffs. The former president had argued that the tariffs were necessary to curb illegal immigration and stem the flow of fentanyl-related substances into the U.S. However, his critics—including some in his own party—argued that penalizing Canada, a crucial trade partner, was a reckless move that would hurt American businesses and consumers.

Despite Trump’s insistence that tariffs would combat the opioid crisis, a number of Republicans have broken ranks, expressing concerns over the economic fallout. Senator Collins didn’t mince words, calling the tariffs a “huge mistake” that would disrupt trade on both sides of the border. Senator Paul went a step further by co-sponsoring the resolution to block the import levies.

Trump, however, saw their opposition as nothing short of betrayal. “What is wrong with them, other than suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome?” he fumed, referencing a term he frequently uses to dismiss critics.

In a direct appeal to voters, Trump urged residents of Kentucky, Alaska, and Maine to pressure their senators into “finally adhering to Republican Values and Ideals.” He further accused them of being “extremely difficult” and disloyal to Senate Majority Whip John Thune and the Republican Party at large.

Despite the drama, Trump remained defiant, assuring his supporters that the resolution was nothing more than a Democratic ploy to expose divisions within the GOP. He vowed that even if it passed the Senate, it would never survive in the Republican-controlled House—nor would he ever sign it into law.

With a Senate vote looming, all eyes are on whether Trump’s fiery rhetoric will be enough to sway wavering Republicans or if his party will deliver him another high-profile political defeat.
