Former President Donald Trump has launched fresh verbal attacks against Nikki Haley, signaling growing concerns about her rising profile in the 2024 Republican primary.
Haley, who previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations under the Trump administration and as the former Governor of South Carolina, showcased another strong debate performance at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California, on Wednesday.
Although Haley’s polling numbers still hover in single digits, and the former president maintains a significant lead among potential Republican candidates, Trump has not held back in his criticism of his former cabinet member. In a recent post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump referred to Haley as a “birdbrain” and questioned her suitability for the presidency, both in terms of “TALENT” and “TEMPERAMENT.”
Trump’s post reads:
“MAGA, or I, will never go for Birdbrain Nikki Haley. No loyalty, plenty of lies! ‘I will never run against our great President,’ she said, ‘he has done an outstanding job.’ To which I responded, ‘How nice of you to say, Nikki,’ knowing full well that her words mean nothing. She even came to Mar-a-Lago with her family, ‘bearing gifts.’ Anyway, Birdbrain doesn’t have the TALENT or TEMPERAMENT to do the job. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
It’s worth noting that the use of the term “birdbrain” is not new, as Trump previously employed it in a post on Thursday when he assessed the performance of Republican candidates who participated in the debate.

It’s evident that Trump’s criticism is primarily directed toward candidates who have openly criticized him, with those refraining from such criticism being spared from his insults.
