Former President Donald Trump faced a wave of criticism and online mockery following his recent speech in Concord, New Hampshire, where he seemingly confused Nikki Haley with Nancy Pelosi, reported Raw Story on Friday.
During the speech, Trump raised eyebrows by appearing to attribute blame to Haley for the events of January 6, fueling speculation about his mental acuity and raising concerns about his overall well-being.
Trump asserted that Haley was allegedly “offered 10,000 people” on January 6 and insinuated her involvement in the deletion of video evidence. These allegations echoed his previous accusations against Pelosi and the January 6 subcommittee.
The video clip of Trump’s remarks quickly went viral, triggering widespread ridicule and renewed discussions about the former president’s mental health.
National security attorney Bradley P. Moss questioned whether Trump should undergo a dementia test again, stating, “Do we need to do the dementia test again?” MSNBC personality Mehdi Hasan similarly questioned, “Does he need to take the ‘person woman man camera TV’ test again?”
The Biden-Harris HQ described Trump as “deeply confused” for repeatedly mistaking Pelosi and Haley during his speech.
Former Republican Rep. Denver Riggleman, a key figure in the House Select Committee, expressed concern about Trump’s confusion and lack of awareness. He noted, “His confusion and lack of awareness is a trend. He’s aging very fast. I hope his family is getting him the help he needs.”
The incident has intensified the ongoing debate surrounding Trump’s mental fitness, with critics citing his recent statements as potential evidence of cognitive decline.
Former Barack Obama White House Senior Adviser Dan Pfeiffer criticized the perceived double standard in media coverage, suggesting that if Biden had made similar statements, they would dominate headlines.
A group called Republican Accountability criticized Trump for his refusal to accept responsibility for January 6, highlighting that the only person he won’t blame is himself. “The only person he won’t blame for Jan. 6 is the person who caused it, Donald Trump,” the account wrote on Friday.
Former prosecutor Andrew Weissmann pointed out the inconsistency in Trump’s attempt to distance himself from the events of January 6, stating, “This is nuts since HE was in charge. And he is embracing J6 to his MAGA followers, but in NH is trying to pretend otherwise.”
