Thought you were having a bad day, imagine walking into a government building and seeing a portrait of yourself so unflattering that you demand it be taken down immediately. That’s exactly what happened to former President Donald Trump, who is now fuming over what he calls a “purposefully distorted” painting of himself hanging in the Colorado State Capitol’s Gallery of Presidents.
The portrait, created by artist Sarah Boardman and unveiled nearly six years ago, has suddenly gone viral—not for its artistic merit, but for Trump’s explosive reaction. Taking to Truth Social, he didn’t hold back.
“Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before,” Trump wrote.
Adding fuel to the fire, he pointed out that the same artist had painted Barack Obama’s portrait—and in his words, “he looks wonderful, but the one on me is truly the worst.” Trump went even further, suggesting that Boardman “must have lost her talent as she got older.”
But that wasn’t all. He then called out Colorado’s Governor, Jared Polis, blaming him for allowing the portrait to be displayed. “Many people from Colorado have called and written to complain. In fact, they are actually angry about it!” Trump claimed.
Social media quickly turned the controversy into a full-blown spectacle. Some users agreed the portrait was unflattering, while others found it hilarious.
“Does he realize what he actually looks like?” one person quipped.
“When ur beauty filter twitches,” another joked.
One user even poked fun at Trump’s famously tanned complexion, questioning, “Not enough orange?”
Despite the online roasting, Trump remained adamant that the portrait must go, calling on Governor Polis to remove it immediately. “Jared should be ashamed of himself!” he declared.
While the internet continues to debate whether the painting is a tragic mistake or a masterpiece, one thing is certain—Trump’s outrage has given it more attention than it ever would have gotten otherwise.
What do you think? Is Trump right to be upset, or is this just another overreaction? Let us know in the comments!
