The Golden State Warriors are entering a new chapter this season, led by Draymond Green and Stephen Curry, as they adjust to a roster with a different look. With Klay Thompson now playing for the Dallas Mavericks, the once-celebrated trio that secured four championships together has been reshaped. Despite these changes, Green remains optimistic about their chances to compete for another title.
“As long as we’re on the floor, we got a chance,” Green stated, emphasizing the importance of health in achieving their goals. He noted, “Once you get in them playoffs, you watch [opposing] guys fold every day and forget to play basketball. You see that often. All we need is a chance.”

Roster Changes and New Faces
Thompson’s departure left the Warriors scrambling to adapt during the offseason. Efforts to acquire superstars like Paul George, who ultimately signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, and Lauri Markkanen, who re-signed with the Utah Jazz, fell through. Nevertheless, the Warriors retooled their lineup with solid role players such as Kyle Anderson, Buddy Hield, and De’Anthony Melton, adding valuable depth to the roster.
Hield is making a strong case for the Sixth Man of the Year, currently averaging 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists, while shooting an impressive 52.5% from the field and 52% from beyond the arc. His performance is crucial in filling the scoring void left by Thompson, even from the bench.
Adapting to Curry’s Injury
The Warriors are now facing challenges with Curry sidelined due to an ankle injury, expected to keep him out for at least the next two games, possibly longer. Head coach Steve Kerr is counting on Green, Anderson, and second-year guard Brandin Podziemski to step up and manage ball-handling duties in Curry’s absence.
“I train myself in the offseason to be ready to play 35-40 minutes on a given night,” Podziemski expressed. “I’m ready for that.”
In a recent episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” Green discussed his approach to adapting his game while Curry is out. “Obviously, I have to be more aggressive, try to find different spots to score, and then I’ll probably handle the ball more,” he said. “In more of a decision-making role, but it’s interesting because I don’t really know what that entails today because we’re kinda running an entirely different offense. But I imagine shots will come in different areas, because the gravity that Steph pulls, it won’t be there.”
