Former Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger’s recent Twitter remarks suggesting that former President Donald Trump has a distinctive smell have sparked a war of words between the two political figures.
Taking to Twitter earlier this week, Kinzinger, a vocal critic of Trump, hinted at an olfactory peculiarity surrounding the ex-president, stating, “I’m genuinely surprised how people close to Trump haven’t talked about the odor. It’s truly something to behold. Wear a mask if you can.”
The comment gained significant traction on the social media platform, with numerous individuals mocking Trump over the alleged olfactory matter.
Responding to the accusation, a spokesperson for Trump fired back, diverting attention to Kinzinger’s actions. “Adam Kinzinger farted on live TV and is an unemployed fraud. He has disgraced his country and disrespects everyone around him because he is a sad individual who is mad about how his miserable life has turned out,” read the statement provided to The Independent.
Kinzinger did not elaborate on the specific nature of the alleged odor, but this is not the first time such claims have surfaced. Comedian Kathy Griffin, in an earlier interview with Mary Trump, described Trump’s scent as “like body odor with kind of like scented makeup products.”
During the interview, Griffin, who spent a brief period with Trump as a guest on The Apprentice, remarked on the distinct smell that she believes deserves more attention in the press.
Kinzinger, who served alongside Trump during the former president’s term in the House of Representatives, took a more aggressive stance against Trump following the January 6 attack on the Capitol. He joined Representative Liz Cheney on the House Select Committee investigating the events of January 6, 2021.
In 2021, Kinzinger transitioned from Congress to a role as a senior political commentator at CNN.
