The Conservative Brief reported on Thursday, December 28, 2023, that the renewed investigation was prompted by an official White House evidence statement suggesting President Biden’s foreknowledge of Hunter’s intention to defy two congressional subpoenas.

The revelation has spurred the Republican committee members to probe deeper into whether the President engaged in a conspiracy to obstruct Congress proceedings. In a letter issued by Comer and Jordan, specific requests for information covering the period from January 20, 2021, to the present were outlined. This includes all documents and communications related to Hunter Biden’s deposition, including correspondence with Hunter Biden, Winston & Strawn LLP, and Kevin Morris.

Additionally, the committee seeks information on documents and communications concerning President Biden’s statement about his family’s business associates on December 6, 2023.

The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, in collaboration with the House Committee on the Judiciary, is conducting the investigation to determine whether grounds exist to draft articles of impeachment against President Biden.

Previously justified in a September 27, 2023 memorandum, the House of Representatives directed the committees to continue the investigation on December 13, 2023.

The official White House statement reveals that the committees had issued subpoenas to Hunter Biden for a deposition scheduled on December 13, 2023. The committees rejected Hunter Biden’s justifications for non-compliance and his demand for special treatment.

The investigation has taken a serious turn following the revelation that President Biden was aware of his son’s defiance of congressional subpoenas.

Earlier this month, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives formally authorized the investigation into President Joe Biden’s potential impeachment, centered around whether Biden improperly benefited from his son Hunter’s international business dealings. The vote, cast along party lines, saw the Republican majority approving the inquiry.

House Speaker Mike Johnson emphasized the gravity of the investigation, highlighting the Republican Party’s commitment to the rule of law. He stated that the investigation would proceed methodically, transparently, and without rushing, underscoring the constitutional duty to pursue the facts where they lead.

As the committees continue to gather evidence and interview key witnesses, the impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden’s alleged involvement in Hunter Biden’s affairs takes a surprising twist with each development. The thorough and careful approach by the committee chairmen aims to uphold the constitutional responsibility of the House while providing transparency in the investigative process. The evolving facts will shape the course of this inquiry and determine its implications for President Biden’s presidency.
