Alina Habba, the legal representative for former President Donald Trump, strongly criticized the recent ruling by the Colorado Supreme Court that barred Trump from participating in the state’s 2024 GOP presidential primary ballot. Habba asserted that the decision is a deliberate attempt to obstruct Trump’s involvement in the electoral process through any means necessary.
In an interview with Breitbart News on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, Habba expressed her confidence that the U.S. Supreme Court would overturn the ruling, characterizing it as politically motivated rather than grounded in constitutional interpretation.
“I find it ironic that there’s a pending January 6 charge, but due process doesn’t matter because Colorado’s liberal judges want to take him off the ballot because they can’t beat Biden in the ballots,” remarked Habba.
Habba argued that the decision lacks a constitutional foundation and violates due process, asserting her belief that the higher court will ultimately rectify the situation. According to her, the judges involved in the ruling see themselves as “pioneers for the liberal radical left,” a perspective she criticized for its alleged disregard for due process and constitutional principles.
The attorney emphasized the importance of due process in the legal system and confidently stated, “And there is no question in my mind. Due process exists for a reason. There has to be some America left,” highlighting her concern about the perceived absence of constitutional grounding in the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision.
Characterizing the ruling as “ridiculous,” Habba expressed no doubt that the U.S. Supreme Court would make the right decision. She labeled the decision as desperate and accused the judges of trying to undermine the democratic process by limiting voters’ choices.
“We can’t even, we don’t even have the option in Colorado to vote for who we want. The leading candidate, we don’t even have the option because they’re so afraid,” lamented Habba, condemning what she perceived as an infringement on voters’ choices.
Habba suggested that the ruling is a strategic move by political opponents who fear Trump’s potential candidacy in 2024. She argued that the decision aligns with previous attempts to undermine Trump, citing the Russia investigation as an example.
“This is about stealing 2024 because they can’t win. So they already did the Russia hoax. They got caught on that. So now we have to do something different. That’s what this is. The radical left is desperate, and it’s obvious and pathetic,” said Habba, attributing the decision to what she sees as a broader pattern of political desperation.
