The Trump Organization just offloaded their rights to run a public golf course in New York City to Bally’s Corporation, a big gaming and entertainment company, for a cool $60 million. This info came straight from Donald Trump Jr.’s mouth while he was in court on Thursday.
So, here’s the scoop: The Trump Organization had been in charge of the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point, a nice 18-hole golf spot in the Bronx with sweet views of the city, since 2015. They even added a fancy 20,000-square-foot clubhouse.
Their lease was supposed to last until 2035, but things got messy after the January 6, 2021, incident at the U.S. Capitol. The city wanted to cut ties with them, saying that the former President had something to do with it, but a judge said nope, they could stay.
Now, Bally’s has taken the reins and changed the golf course’s name to Bally’s Golf Links at Ferry Point. They plan to run the whole show and keep the Trump name out of it.
This deal is part of Bally’s plan to set up shop in New York, hoping to score one of those three casino licenses the state is offering.
Eric Trump, another one of the Trump sons, said they didn’t plan on selling the course, but Bally’s made them an offer they couldn’t refuse. He’s not sure how much profit they’re walking away with.
This is all going down as part of a trial where New York Attorney General Letitia James is accusing the former President and his company of fudging numbers to get loans and make deals. They say they’re innocent, and the former President is set to testify on Monday.
He’s not too thrilled about the whole situation, calling it rigged and election interference on his Truth Social media platform.
