Omaha Tragedy: 37-Year-Old Brandon Jones Fatally Shot in After-Hours Violence at 24th and Binney

Shooting early Sunday morning at 24th and Binney Streets in Omaha claimed the life of 37-year-old Brandon Jones and left four others injured, sparking an urgent investigation by local authorities. The incident, which occurred around 3 a.m., was triggered by at least 14 gunshots detected by an advanced gunshot detection system near an after-hours club in the area.

When Omaha police arrived, they encountered a chaotic scene with a large crowd, prompting the need for additional reinforcements to restore order. Amid the commotion, officers discovered two critically injured victims. Brandon Jones was found unresponsive and received CPR before being rushed to Nebraska Medicine, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Another critically injured victim, Cameron Brown, 32, was also transported to Nebraska Medicine and is reported to be in stable but critical condition. Meanwhile, three other individuals, Derrick Bothwell, 48, Robert Johnson, 55, and Phillip Gaines, 57, sought medical attention on their own at Creighton University Medical Center, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

In response to the shooting, 24th Street was closed between Wirt and Locust Streets as police officers worked for several hours to collect evidence and secure the area. Authorities have described the incident as isolated, reassuring the public that there is no ongoing threat.
