During a recent rally in Nevada, Donald Trump voiced his ongoing criticism of Barack Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize, labeling the award as unjustly given. The rally, part of the “United for Change” event, was attended by a passionate crowd eager to hear Trump’s remarks on various political issues.
Trump expressed his frustration with Obama’s Nobel Prize, suggesting that anyone else in the former president’s position would have received the prestigious award. “They gave Obama the Nobel Prize. He didn’t even know why he got it. Right at the beginning of his administration, they announced he was getting it,” Trump stated. He further claimed, “I got elected in a much bigger, better, crazier election, but they gave him the Nobel Prize.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has brought up this topic. At a previous rally in Detroit, he noted the perceived unfairness in how the award was distributed, particularly in light of his own diplomatic achievements. He emphasized his role in brokering the Abraham Accords, agreements that normalized relations between Israel, the UAE, and Bahrain. “If it was anybody else, a liberal Democrat, they would have had it before the damn thing was even signed,” he added.
The event in Las Vegas, organized by the conservative group Turning Point Action, attracted thousands of enthusiastic supporters. Throughout his speech, Trump not only targeted Obama but also Vice President Kamala Harris, warning that if she were elected, the entire country could face challenges similar to those in Detroit.
However, Trump’s remarks about Detroit sparked backlash from local leaders, including Mayor Mike Duggan. In response, Duggan emphasized the city’s progress, highlighting improvements in crime reduction and population growth. “Lots of cities should be like Detroit,” he posted on social media, underscoring that these achievements were accomplished “without Trump’s help.”
