Former President Donald Trump has come under the spotlight of social media scrutiny following his and Melania’s departure in separate cars from a recent funeral, raising questions about the dynamics of their marriage.
As reported by Raw Story on January 19, 2024, a brief video shared by liberal activist Ron Filipowski on X (formerly Twitter) captured the controversial moment, sparking widespread speculation. The clip showcased the Trumps walking towards a black SUV, where a Secret Service agent held open the passenger-side rear door for Melania.
In the footage, the former First Lady entered the vehicle, exchanged what seemed to be brief and inaudible words with Trump, who then turned away and entered the car behind her. Filipowski’s accompanying tweet with the video simply stated, “Separate cars,” triggering a cascade of reactions on X.
Filipowski followed up with a photo depicting Melania with a seemingly cold expression before entering her car, prompting cybersecurity expert Travis Allen to comment, “Imagine getting friendzoned by your wife.”
Observant users highlighted Melania’s apparent spontaneous decision to ride alone, with one user, Lyle Scout, noting that she seemed to make the choice on the spot while Trump stood by the vehicle, seemingly expecting to sit beside her.
Carla Nicol, a liberal social media personality, suggested a link between Melania’s demeanor and the ongoing E. Jean Carroll defamation trial, implying that her lack of affection towards Trump might be connected to his alleged misconduct during the service. She posted, “No hug or kiss goodbye,” before suggesting Melania might be unhappy about the former president “rage tweeting” about Carroll during the service.
Journalist and podcaster Roland S. Martin expressed a strong opinion, suggesting that Melania’s actions reflected a deep-seated dislike for Trump. Cranford, New Jersey deputy mayor Terrance Curran joined the conversation with a pointed remark, asserting that Melania’s decision not to share a car with her husband spoke volumes about their relationship. “Those closest to him know the truth,” Curran wrote. “He’s not a good person and certainly doesn’t care about anyone else but himself.”
While some users defended Trump, cautioning against jumping to conclusions based on a brief moment captured on camera, the separation of the Trumps leaving the funeral reignited discussions about the state of their marriage—a topic that has consistently piqued public interest.
