Brad Pitt, the celebrated Oscar-winning actor, has recently shed light on his evolving career perspective in an interview with GQ. At 60 years old, Pitt has been reflecting on his professional journey and future, leading to speculation about his retirement. However, he clarified his stance, revealing a nuanced view of his career’s trajectory.
In a previous interview, Pitt hinted at retirement with a cryptic statement: “I consider myself on my last leg. This last semester or trimester. What is this section gonna be? And how do I wanna design that?” This remark had fans and critics speculating about his plans, but in his latest conversation with co-star George Clooney for GQ, Pitt provided more context.
“I’m doing one movie in a year and a half,” Pitt said, addressing his current career pace. “I’m still kind of on the same trajectory. I feel the same. I’m really just trying to enjoy the people that I love around me and just living.” This clarification reveals that while his professional pace has slowed, he remains engaged and content with his work.
Pitt likened his career to “seasons,” explaining that each phase brings different challenges and opportunities. Reflecting on his journey from his early days in Hollywood to his current status, he shared, “There was moving out from the safety of the Ozarks. You embark on this thing and it’s all about discovery and it’s really exciting and interesting and painful and awful and all of it.” He added that now, as he contemplates the later stages of his career, he is focused on how to make the most of these “last years.”
Drawing inspiration from notable figures like architect Frank Gehry, Pitt expressed admiration for those who continue to create and thrive well into their later years. “In your 80s, the body becomes more frail,” he noted, “And yet I look at Frank Gehry. He’s just the loveliest man. And he’s 95 and still making great art and he’s got a beautiful family.”

George Clooney, who shared the interview with Pitt, also spoke about the challenges of aging in Hollywood. Clooney highlighted the importance of adapting to change and making peace with the evolving nature of one’s career. “The phone stops ringing if your decision is that you want to continue to be the character that you were when you were 35,” he explained. “But if you’re willing to, say, move down the call sheet a little bit and do interesting character work, then you can kind of — you have to make peace with the idea that you’re going to die!”
Pitt and Clooney’s latest collaboration, Wolfs, set for release next month, features them as “fixers” tasked with covering up a high-profile crime. The film’s intentional misspelling of the title adds a unique touch to their highly anticipated project. Both stars are expected to return for a sequel, as writer-director Jon Watts is already working on it.
Pitt will also be seen in the Formula 1 racing drama F1, scheduled for release next year. As he navigates this reflective phase of his career, Pitt’s commitment to his craft and his thoughtful approach to his professional legacy continue to captivate his audience.
