Deputies with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) responded promptly to the call around 4:00 a.m. on the 10000 block of Stephen Drive, discovering a horrific double homicide and eventually engaging in a fatal confrontation with the suspect.
The tragic events unfolded when deputies entered the residence and found a 40-year-old woman and a 2-year-old child fatally shot. Two other juvenile females, ages 9 and 13, were discovered injured but alive. Both children were rushed to Children’s Hospital, where the 9-year-old remains in critical condition after undergoing surgery, and the 13-year-old, who suffered a gunshot wound to her ankle, is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.
Inside the home, deputies encountered the suspect, identified as the father of the juvenile victims, in a back bedroom. Armed and reportedly brandishing a firearm, the suspect was met with force from deputies, who fired their weapons. The suspect was struck multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.
