A night of celebration took a tragic turn when 29-year-old Jamia Taylor, known to friends as “Mya,” was fatally shot in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood. Now, authorities are in a race against time to track down two persons of interest linked to the brutal killing.
The deadly shooting unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, February 9, 2025, near 79th Street and Bennett Avenue. Chicago Police Department (CPD) officers rushed to the scene after multiple reports of gunfire at approximately 5:25 a.m. What they found was chilling—Taylor lying unresponsive in the middle of the street, riddled with gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders transported her to the University of Chicago Medical Center, but it was too late. Taylor was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Investigators believe she had been attending an after-hours birthday gathering when she was ambushed by a gunman who fled immediately after opening fire.
As the city reels from yet another act of gun violence, law enforcement is actively searching for Terri Lashae Bailey, also known as Kitana Brooks, and Terrence Reed, also known as Tskud. The duo has been named as persons of interest, though no arrests have been made.
Detectives from CPD’s Area 4 are urging anyone with information to step forward. Anonymous tips can be submitted at CPDTIP.COM or by contacting the Chicago Police Department directly.
