Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are contemplating a return to their initial plan of splitting their time between the UK and the US, according to recent reports. The Duke of Sussex has been reportedly house hunting in the UK, aiming to secure a permanent residence that would allow him and Meghan to visit without the need for hotel stays.
Former Royal Butler Grant Harrold, who worked closely with the royal family, suggested that this move aligns with Harry and Meghan’s original intentions. “If Harry does buy a place in the UK, he and Meghan will live here for part of the year and part of the year in the States, that was the original idea,” Harrold stated in an interview with the New York Post.
However, Harrold also acknowledged that Meghan may not be keen on a permanent relocation to London. “I don’t see Meghan wanting to be in the UK permanently — I think that was the whole idea of why they went out to the States in the first place,” he noted, emphasizing Harry’s fondness for the UK where he spent much of his childhood.
The potential move comes amid reports that Prince Charles is eager to spend more time with his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. Sources indicate that Charles, who has only met the children a few times in person, wishes to strengthen his bond with them, especially amid his ongoing health challenges.
Queen Camilla reportedly supports Charles’s efforts to connect more deeply with Archie and Lilibet, recently facilitating a heartfelt gesture from Charles to his granddaughter on her third birthday.
The speculated relocation suggests a balancing act for Harry and Meghan between family ties in the UK and their current base in the United States. As details unfold, it remains to be seen how their plans will evolve and what implications this may have for their future engagements and commitments on both sides of the Atlantic.
