Renowned sports broadcaster Bob Costas has sparked significant debate within the Democratic Party with his candid remarks about President Joe Biden’s ability to serve another term. In a recent appearance on CNN’s “Smerconish,” Costas didn’t hold back, criticizing Biden’s performance and questioning the party’s handling of his decline.
Costas, known for his insightful commentary, didn’t mince words when he described Biden’s recent debate performance as “atrocious,” highlighting that it merely amplified what he believes has been evident for years — Biden’s serious decline.
“People who are defending Biden as having one bad night aren’t seeing what has been the case for years,” Costas asserted during the interview. He emphasized the urgency of addressing Biden’s age, stating unequivocally, “Nobody should be president when they’re 85 or 86, including the ghost of Abraham Lincoln.”
Costas argued that beyond just fulfilling the duties of office, being president also involves winning the position, which he believes Biden may struggle with significantly against formidable opponents like former President Donald Trump.
“Part of the job, leaving aside whether he can do it for the next four years, is winning the job,” Costas remarked, underscoring the challenges ahead for Biden’s candidacy.

He dismissed arguments that the Democratic Party should unite behind Biden solely to counter the threat posed by Trump, advocating instead for a new candidate to emerge. Costas revealed that he has been advocating for this change for over a year, stressing the critical nature of the current political climate.
“This has been so overwhelmingly obvious for so long,” Costas criticized, questioning whether the party had been ignoring Biden’s decline, suggesting that speaking out was a patriotic duty.
Costas’s remarks have ignited a fiery discussion within Democratic circles, with many echoing his concerns about Biden’s fitness for office and the necessity for a robust challenger to Trump in the upcoming election.
