With the 2024 presidential showdown on the horizon, President Biden’s buddy from the Senate, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and some smart Democratic folks are getting jittery about Donald Trump’s chances, according to Fox News on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
Why the jitters? Well, it’s because recent polls are giving Trump a boost in those states that could make or break an election. Some are even saying we should be flat-out scared.
Sen. Blumenthal, who’s been a big fan of President Biden, told the Washington Post, I’m worried. I was worried even before seeing these numbers. It’s baffling how much trust Donald Trump still has, even with all the legal issues, fibs, and other bad stuff.
Blumenthal thinks President Biden should kick it up a notch and show off his achievements to voters in a big way.
A fresh poll from The New York Times and Siena College, out last Sunday, shows that Trump is leading Biden by quite a bit in some important swing states.
The poll says Trump’s got a 10-point lead in Nevada, a six-point lead in Georgia, a five-point lead in Arizona and Michigan, and a four-point lead in Pennsylvania.
In Wisconsin, Biden is only two points ahead of Trump.
And just to remind you, Biden won all of these states in the 2020 election.
These poll results are making Democratic strategists super uneasy. One of them even said, We should be a bit scared. We should be terrified about what could happen.
The big shift toward Trump in these battleground states is causing some serious anxiety among Democrats.
One of the problems is Biden connecting with young voters. Some Democratic strategists think there’s a gap between the President and these young folks, which is a big hurdle for winning their support.
Simon Rosenberg, one of those Democratic strategists, says it’s a problem they need to tackle. He’s hopeful that once it’s just Trump and Biden facing off, more young voters will come back to the Democrats. But he’s clear that they’ve got work to do to bridge that gap.
These concerns and warnings from Democrats show how tight American politics is and how things can change really fast during elections.
The Democratic Party knows they’ve got their work cut out for them in the run-up to the 2024 election. They’re taking a close look at strategies to deal with these issues.
As the election season unfolds, the Democratic Party has to deal with these worries, come up with solid plans, and work hard to get the support of key groups.
Nobody knows what’s going to happen in the 2024 election, but both sides are going to turn up the heat to try and win the race to the White House.
The concerns from Sen. Blumenthal and the Democratic strategists show that the party knows they need to adjust and plan well in a fast-changing political world. The 2024 election is going to be a big test for the party to connect with voters, build a winning team, and find a way to the White House.
